Not for quite a while. I enjoyed popsicles and hot soups for a couple
of weeks.

If you mean numbness around where the incision was made, that lasted
several months. I found it took almost that long for me to be able to
turn my neck comfortably when driving, etc.

You will eventually feel better! Although a couple of weeks after my
surgery, when I was back at work, my voice went so hoarse I couldn't
talk, and I teach workshops for a living!!!! Had to cancel a workshop
and decided to take 6 weeks off work. Glad I did. I had a total
thyroidectomy, because of the cancerous nodules, and after I lost my
voice, I completely lost energy, and couldn't even walk a city block
without being out of breath. I collected fluid like a resevoir and
when I went on fluid pills I got sick to my tummy and dizzy. I felt
like I was in very very slow motion until about 2 months after the
operation and I was put on synthroid. Helped lots at first, but still
not my normal self, and the endo has reduced my dose, so I am going to
ask for my original dose back again when I see her in June.
