I'm interested in finding out the short and long term side effects of a
thyroidectomy of the left lobe (a benign cold nodule). I had surgery 2 weeks
ago and would like to know what to expert in the future.
Note - I had symptoms of both hyper- and hypo-thyroid prior to surgery. The
nodule was 2.5 cm 10 years ago ( I was given a radioactive cocktail at that
time and a fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) which was benign. However, it
continued to 4.5 cm with an ambiguous FNA result early last year, so I chose
to have it removed). Happily, it was still benign upon removal. I went to an
excellent Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon here in Los Angeles (Dr. Matthew
Finerman), but I would like to hear from others who have had a similar
experience.
Thanks, Mae
