Hi, I am new to this list. I was recently found to have two tumors on
or hanging off my thyroid. I have had an ultrasound and am waiting for
an appointment for a needle biopsy. In the meantime, I have a
question. Years ago, I was hypothyroid, and I mean YEARS ago. After my
second child was born the doctor took me off synthroid and I didn't need
it anymore so that was that. Then in 1992 I came down with some
mysterious illness that was then dx'ed as Rheumatoid Arthritis and
Fibromyalgia, but the RA is either in remission or never was, but the
Fibro is still with me. Anyway, during the period since 1992 my TSH
level has dropped and is sometimes as low as .3 but mostly around .7. I
know it used to be more mid-range before I got sick in 1992. Even
though this drop in TSH has happened no doctor has ever cared to worry
about it because my thyroid labs are always within the normal range
albeit, nearing the hyper side. My question is: could these tumors in my
thyroid still be making hormone (hot) and my lab tests still be within
the normal ranges? Or, in other words, could these tumors be pushing me
towards hyperthyroid without going out of normal ranges? And, if the
tumors are treated, might I go back to more normal levels of thyorid
hormones? Thanks for your comments. Cindy
