I'm new to the list so would like to say "Hi". My name is
Fiona and I live in New Jersey, USA.
My older sister and I both suffer from hypothyroidism but her
family doctor (in the UK) refuses to give her levothyroxine as
she suffers from bad migraines and they say it would
exacerbate the condition. In addition she has frequent
debilitating deja vu sensations which sometimes precede
the migraine.
We are wondering if the migraines and sensory distortions
could actually be a symptom of the hypothyroidism and
might be helped by the medication?
Have any of you had similar experiences or know where
there are any medical articles covering this subject. Money
is so tight in the National Health Service in the UK that you
are never sure if there IS no treatment or if they don't want to
give it to you because it's expensive!
Note: She has had CAT scans and numerous medical tests
to check for other possible causes of the migraine
syndrome.
