Another post on different dosages. Last year my endo tried to get my TSH up
by having me do 175 and 150 synthyroid on alternating days instead of 175
daily. (Thyroid gland is long gone.) It was horrible, and people told me
how dreadful I looked. After six months my TSH went DOWN. Based on how my
muscles feel, not on the TSH numbers, 175 daily is too much and 150 daily is
too little -- except it is just right a couple days before my period. I told
my doctor I'm trying a new experiment: 175 on most days, but on a cycle of
30 to 36 hours, depending on how I feel, instead of 24 hours. This is a bit
hard, because I should take synthroid on an empty stomach, and with
hypoglycemia, if I take the pill at 11 am, I crash for about an hour after
that. But my muscles like this routine better.
Regarding doctors, there was one on this list this past summer -- she seemed
to have her head on straight. Wish there were more who were willing to learn
from our experiences and personal research. I'm sure the answers lie in our
descriptions of symptoms and effects.
