I would like to make a long story short, but I am afraid that is not
possible. OK, I have a 5 month old son (well almost 6 months) and he has had
chronic diarrhea for almost a month now. His pediatrician seems to think it
is my Levothroid is causing this. To experiment, we gave him a milk based
formula for 48 hours, and sure enough the diarrhea went away. This disproved
the theory of lactose intolerance. The problem is, nothing else has changed
with me, so it HAS to be the Levothroid. The problem is the pharmacist swears
that only a *minimal* amount is secreted into breastmilk. Well, I want to
contact the maker of the drug, or someone. I want to rule out that this is
the problem, and if it is the cause, let other breastfeeding mothers be aware
of the possible side effects. Another possibility, along the same lines is
could it be the Hashimotos antibodies hurting him? Anyone have any ideas? Is
the pharmacist right? Is my sons pediatrician right? Please. I am calling the
maker of Levothroid on Monday, but I would like help brainstorming if you
could......
Thanks
~Kristin
