My apologies. In my previous letter replying to a request about
the zone, I quoted a snippet from someone about rice and potatoes.
They are considered UNFAVORABLE carbohydrates on the zone because
of their high-glycemic index. This means (essentially) that they
release their sugars (all carbos are sugars when you come right
down to it) quickly into the bloodstream and for people who
are "carbo-sensitive" can have rapid rise and fall in blood sugar
level. The zone is about trying to maintain a "zone" of balanced
insulin and hormone levels.
I also mentioned blocks, but failed to mention that you need to
find out how many blocks you need (determined by your lean body
mass/fat mass). Once again, any zone website should be able to
help.
