Who here thinks it may be a good idea for thyroid foundations
to encourage people to keep a decent record of thyroid function
tests and how they feel. This would give people an indication of
what levels they feel most well at.
It would be an idea for those over large money making machines
who make your pills to finance a project such as this.
It would also give doctors better guidelines at determining times
between tests ( 3 monthly is a good idea just after treatments
for overactivity and changes of treatment)
It is a step toward having a feeling of control over your condition,
something that is recognised in other illnesses as being important.
It would also help the doctor patient relationship because it helps
to empower the patient which is a recognised factor in relationship
improvements. The key to good health care has got to be giving
the patient as much control over their health as possible.

A positive side would be that records could also provide material for some
valuable research, should they be needed.

Anyway it's a good PR exercise for the drugs companies, it's a
positive move to show they do value the people they are eager
to take their money off.

This is your thyroid problem people, your money, your life.
It is only good enough when everything is being done to
improve care.
