Lara,
You surely described some classic symptoms of Hypothyroidism, such as
the incomplete swallowing sensation in the throat, feeling tired ( even
after a normal nights sleep), pain and stiffness in joints and dry skin,
hair.
It is important that your doctor requests that the TSH level be tested
this is really the only reliable test to indicate the functioning of your
thyroid.
Make sure that you follow up and ask for the results. Don't just take one
of the staffs's word on it ....like " Oh, your thyroid's in range! "...ask
for the numbers. I believe the TSH level should be in the area of .03 - 5
to be considered normal.
I only stress this because I went through this myself and wasted two
months before being properly diagnosed.
It seems that many general practioners are a little weak in the area
of thyroid problems (my generalization). I was able to find a good
Internist that has helped me reach my correct level.
If your thyroid is fine, do pursue other tests as your symptoms
indicate that somthing is not right.
I hope all goes well and good luck, Steve
