I can't imagine what your doctor's rationale would be for this.
Taking someone who needs thyroid meds off medication to see what
happens is like taking a diabetic off insulin to see what happens, only
the decline would be slower. Synthroid does stay in the body for
awhile, but several weeks seems excessive. And I could be wrong, but I
didn't think that Synthroid suppresses T4 production, it supplements it.
But tapering is probably a better idea either way.
I'd be very concerned about going six weeks or longer without my
thyroid meds. Because being hypo and not on medication really sucks,
and you start not thinking clearly enough to let someone know.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
