I think that your doctor is an idiot to use your age as an excuse for not
treating you properly, he is treating you as an elderly person why?
Do you live in Britain?
Have you seen an Endocrinologist?
Antithyroid is not recommended for long periods such as this
it simply isn't a safe drug to use long term. Please don't
become an experiment for the future treatment of others
through ignorance. Look up information and copy it out to
take to your doctors, ask for an explanation for leaving you
on antithyroid for so long. If you have had a period off medication
and still gone back to how you were, then it seems to be an indication
that you need other treatment.
If your thyroid is not bad enough to need other treatment then
have you tried various alternative therapies ie; relaxation etc?
