Diane,
Not to dispute anything you said about your own condition, but though
most doctors will tell you there's always numbness in the hands with
carpal tunnel syndrome, that's not always true. My mother has had CT
surgery on both wrists, and she says she's never experienced numbness
with it. She has a lot of scar tissue that's formed in her hands over
the last several months, and she's been saying for the last couple of
months that her hands feel just like they did before when the tunnels
were closed up. Three hand surgeons have told her that it's impossible
for the tunnels to close up (and none of them is even willing to order
the nerve conduction test used to diagnose CTS), but I've known several
people who had that very thing happen, including my cousin who's had it
happen in both hands -- TWICE in each! She has said that she, too,
didn't experience numbness in her hands, just a lot of pain which
sometimes radiates up into the shoulder.
Anyhow, it's something you need to have checked out IF you can find a
doctor willing to listen to you.
