Update.  I copied Bridget's father, my uncle, on the messages I sent  
to Bridget about the ketogenic diet and Emily.  This was his reply:

"Emily's condition is so much more complicated and believe me Bridget  
has done a tremendous amount of research on all aspects of Emily's  
state of
being. I am not a medical expert but I firmly believe that she has a  
handle on what is best for Emily. Thanks for your input but I  
respectively request
that this road you want her to pursue is not in Emily's best interest."
