Hi all!
Phil asked me how my dad is doing, so I thought I'd update you all on him.
My dad still doesn't have much of a voice, but he's supposed to have an
outpatient surgery to get his nerve or vocal cords working again. His house
is a bit like a hospital, with equipment such as oxygen machine with a water
container for vaporizing, and a long hose (I don't know how long.), a
suction machine that he doesn't use much anymore, stomach tube with
apparatus for feeding, something, maybe like an IV drip, that he can attach
to the tube so that food would drip into his stomach, which he doesn't use
anymore, and a box through which a technician speaks instructions and checks
his vital signs, using blood pressure cuff and finger monitor for
blood-oxygen levels, I believe. He can take care of the feedings himself,
including grinding regular food in a blender. He thinks the formula
prescribed for him is not the best, as he had more problems with mucus with
it. So they tried to contact the dietician to see what else he could try,
but they never heard from the dietician. Then my brother Dale took matters
into his own hands and bought pancake mix and liquid egg, and baby food, but
had to change, maybe due to Dad's low blood pressure. He needs to be
strengthened for this coming surgery on May 28. Thank you all again for
your support and prayers, and please continue!
Thanks!
Sharon
