I am not taking T3 simply to raise my low body temperature to normal. I am
taking timed release T3 (ahhhh, such an improvement after the stint with
Cytomel) to get the necessary T3 into all the cells of my body when and where
they are needed. The way I understand it, temperatures are both symptoms and
causes. If my temperatures are chronically too low (and they were), that
means that the there was not enough normal T3 getting into my cells to act as
the catalyst for certain necessary chemical reactions. The heat resulting
from the chemical reactions in all the cells combined results in body
temperature. The optimum temperature is needed to cause other events to
occur properly in the body. People with average daily temperatures of 98.6 F
are usually healthier than those with temps in the 97s and 96s (or less). It
is harder to fight infections with lower temperatures. (How many hypos have
been very ill and then were told it must not be bad because they did not have
"a temperature"?) When we don't get enough normal T3 into our cells, a lot
of bad things happen (different combinations for each person). So any
doctor that it brainless enough to think that taking T3 is only for raising
temperature is missing the whole picture.
And we are also not taking it just to lose weight (although this might be a
nice side-effect of having the whole body working better). Or just to get
our hair back, or just any one thing.
We want to be as healthy and as normal as possible!
