Recently I was put on thyrolar-2 for a month, at the end of which time
my TSH was suppressed....several years ago I was on the same dose and my
TSH was NOT suppressed....however, in both instances I was
symptomatically hypothyroid...so, is it possible that for some reason my
Hashimoto's is such that TSH isn't the "gold standard" that the
endocrinologists believe it to be? Incidentally, the first time I was on
thyrolar-2 I had the Broda Barnes Foundation 24 hour urine analysis of
thyroid and adrenal hormones done which showed my T4 and T3 excretion to
be something like 2/3 of the bottom value of the normal range....no
endocrinologist pays any attention to that test result, but I suspect it
was valid...at the moment I'm doing IV DMPS and DMSA to reduce my tissue
levels of mercury, which were shown to be high....and some people
believe that mercury disrupts thyroid metabolism...hmmm....maybe it also
affects TSH as well as interfering with the conversion of T4 to T3. Any
ideas on this?
