A doctor took my mother off synthroid, a number of years after
she had a thyroidectomy.
I don't know, though, if this is a wise medical decision, unless
you have had yearly blood tests afterward.
Was it ever explained to you exactly what was wrong, that you
were hypothyroid?

My question is: could these tumors in my

Yes, I believe that having nodules on your thyroid will send you
slightly or dramatically into the hyperthyroid range, and can then
you can become normal (euthroid) or hypothyroid, depending on
what the nodules and the thyroid is producing.
My regular blood tests for T3 and T4 have shown hyper, normal,
hyper several times, then near normal.

This is one thing I learned from my long-awaited specialist
appt. last week (took 5 months to get in to see her).

I see that you will be having a fine needle biopsy after ultrasound.
In my case ( 3 nodules and a cyst) the specialist, after the
ultrasound, has ordered a thyroid scan, done with new equipment
at our teaching hospital for next week. Should be interesting.

Incidentally, the specialist also said it takes about 6 weeks for
synthroid to leave a person's system, so any blood test results
during that time can be affected by the medication.
