Dear Cindy,
You asked about what vitamins will help hypothyroidism. Here are some
suggestions that I have come across in my reading.
~Vitamin B complex 100mg.- 3x daily
~Vitamin B2 (additional to B comlex) 50mg. 2x daily
~Vitamin B12 15mg. 3x daily
~Vitamin A 10,000 IU daily ( Overdose of Vitamin A can become toxic.)
~Vitamin C 500mg. (not to exceed 4x daily, as this can affect the
production of thyroid hormone.)
~Vitamin E 400 IU daily.
~Zinc 50mg.daily.
*Note: If you use any type of Iron supplement do not take it with your
thyroid supplement as this could interfere with the absortion. Also, I have
been told to take my Levothyroxine on an empty stomach an hour before
eating. This, also is suppose to improve the absorbtion of the thyroid
supplement.
Please don't take these suggestions as gospel. Like anything, our
bodies are all different and also react to substances differently. You may
have to experiment and try to use prudent judgement with supplements as you
will probably discover, there are thousands of different opinions,
recommendations, and suggestions.
Best of luck, Steve
