I've been on Synthroid for almost 10 years now. I take it twice a day and
do notice if I forget a dose. However, it's more like a day and a half
later. i.e. If I forget to take it Tues night, I know that Thur morning
is going to be really bad.

Does anyone know what the halflife (is that the right term?) is?

Actually, now that I think about it, I've been on Synthroid for a long
time, but before that I was on Euthroid. I believe Euthroid was taken off
the market years ago which is why my doctor switched me.
