Hi from a cold but sunny 'winter's ' day of 17 degree's in South Africa!
As a new member of the group, I have done quite a bit of reading from the
archives. What a wealth of info - thank you all. It is the most help I have
ever had and I am thrilled.
As a faily newly diagnosed Hashimoto hypo who is on 1:5 Eltroxin/Synthroid,
I feel as if I am half treated and am sitting with some stubborn symptoms.
The endo who I saw in hospital at the end of 2004 says 99% of patients do
not need T3 as it is 1 in a million who have a problem with T4 to T3
conversion. Just persist and wait. He is happy with the T3 count ( TSH was
at the time :3 and T4
was 5:6 - it is now, 7 months later, TSH 1:6 & T4 7:6 )I know my local Dr.
will let me try adding T3/Tertroxin and I would like to try it and see how I
feel. It seems armour a good 'bet' but it is not available here & it would
be expensive for me to try to import.
Am I right in saying many hypo sufferes use both T4 & T3 and it is not so
'rare'??
I was amazed at the Wilson Theory and have been testing my temperature. It
seems to be about 36 on waking but drops to 35:5-7 during the day right
through the next morning.Am I right that is 'not normal'? I have awful leg
pain/spasm in my legs, but have presumed it was from the back spinal fusions
I have had where leg pain is a problem. A BOILNG hot bath is often the only
way I can get to sleep at night. I was hoping T3 would raise body temp and
help the leg pains as well as other hypo symptons ( I had a misprint there
and wrote hipo - I feel like a hippo/hippopotamus with all the added weight.
Hope the T3 could help that too!!
Can anyone give me any feedback on the T4/T3 issue?
Thanks
Lynette Battaglia
