Hi group,
I just wanted to thank the people who responded to my messages about planning
for pregnancy and Hashimoto's.  After my GP refused to refer me to an endo
(I'm in an HMO), I decided to see my nurse midwife(also through my HMO).  I
chose her instead of an OB/GYN because I think nurse midwifes in general have
a more holistic outlook.  Long story short, she was entirely comfortable
admitting that she is not a thyroid expert, and was happy to write a referral
to the endo!  One small step for medicine, one large step for one woman!
