Caren,
I'm kind of new to this - was diagnosed with Hashimotos about a month ago
with a TSH of 21.8. I had not felt hypo symptoms either ( and still don't
). A lot of my friends and work associates were shocked and saying things
like - "boy, you'll really be hyper when you get your thyroid
corrected, etc". I had had bouts of insomnia even.
My doc started me on synthroid and I've not had levels checked again yet.
But I feel pretty good - hard to judge since I never felt bad.
So guess there are some of us who can feel okay at high TSH - but I'm not
sure what the ramifications are - in my case I did have a goiter so wanted
to get that to shrink or at least not get bigger so do want to get my
levels in range. My friends mom could never tolerate her TSH to be in
range and had to keep it high becase whenever it got in normal range she
felt too hyper/anxious/agitated, etc.
Good luck - let us know what you figure out.
