I was also diagnosed with Hashimoto when I was euthyroid. I was
prescribed Synthroid and was given a some literature about this
condition. After reading the literature I've decided not to take it
because at that time I didn't have any symptoms. After about 2 years I
started to have symptoms and was put on Synthroid and this time I'm
taking it. I am wandering how can this doctor help your body utilize
thyroid hormone effectively? My daughter has symptoms of hypothyrodism
but her blood work is fine. Another thing I would like to mention, I
started to develop terrible heart burn, is it related to Synthroid?
Does anybody else have this experience? Does anybody know what do they
put in Synthroid as a binding agent, it taste like sugar.

I had a visit with a new doctor today and it went very well. He is a
holistic physician (an MD) who believes in treating patients as
individuals. He was actually pleased that I was able to ask intelligent
questions and had done research. He diagnosed my hypothyroidism based
on
my extremely low basal body temperature as well as my other symptoms and
is treating me. He explained that the thyroid can appear to function
normally, but at the cellular level something blocks the body from using
thyroid hormone effectively which results in a kind of chronic
hypothyroidism. Anyway, I feel relieved to have been listened to and
thought that I would share my experience in order to give hope to others
that there are doctors who will listen. Sallette
