I had a visit with a new doctor today and it went very well. He is a
holistic physician (an MD) who believes in treating patients as
individuals. He was actually pleased that I was able to ask intelligent
questions and had done research. He diagnosed my hypothyroidism based on
my extremely low basal body temperature as well as my other symptoms and
is treating me. He explained that the thyroid can appear to function
normally, but at the cellular level something blocks the body from using
thyroid hormone effectively which results in a kind of chronic
hypothyroidism. Anyway, I feel relieved to have been listened to and
thought that I would share my experience in order to give hope to others
that there are doctors who will listen. Sallette
