Hi everyone

http://tinyurl.com/6jtzjb I would like to update some information that was posted recently. The Codex standard for foods for special dietary use for persons intolerant to gluten has been updated. The old standard was 200 ppm. The new standard which was approved this July states that gluten-free foods may contain no more than 20 parts per million gluten. The Food and Drug Administration's proposed rule on gluten-free labeling stipulates that food labeled gluten-free must contain less than 20 parts per million gluten. The FDA standard has not been finalized. Once the FDA standard is finalized a manufacturer of a product for sale in the US will not be able to label a product gluten free if it contains 20 or more ppm gluten. To read more about Codex and FDA standards please click on the above link.
