Hi Members,

The meeting will be January 19th (Saturday) at 1:00pm in the Auditorium at
Harrison Medical Center, 2520 Cherry Ave, Bremerton, WA. Stop in the cafeteria
first to grab a cup of tea or coffee to go with the wonderful treats.

Deann Schoeler, owner/operator of the Sunny Valley Wheat Free/Gluten Free
Bakery in Maple Valley, WA will bring samples of her many baked goods and have a
question and answer session to help us all be better bakers and learn about
how best to use GF flours. Her web site is _www.sunnyvalleywheatfree.com_
(http://www.sunnyvalleywheatfree.com) . Please come to hear her story.

Please read the message below from Adele Fosser who I am now helping with
the Port Townsend meetings. I hope you will all try to extend yourselves to the
other quarterly meetings in Sequim and Port Townsend as they will be filled
with great information, a change of pace and new ideas and people to meet.

Plan for our March 15th meeting which will be in Sequim at the Olympic
Medical Center on 5th Ave. We are so proud to have Cynthia Kupper, RD, CD and
Executive Director of the National Gluten Intolerance Group as our kickoff
speaker. We hope this meeting will prove to enhance the community's awareness of
Gluten Intolerance and expand our ever present goal to be of support to everyone
with Gluten Intolerance, Celiac Disease and Dermatitis Herpetiformis.

I highly recommend you start planning for the GIG National Education
Conference in June in Dallas/Fort Worth. If you have never attended a GIG National
Conference before you can not even imagine the information and exquisite foods
you will get to enjoy. Make it a family vacation or a trip of a lifetime but
seriously think about it. Conference information and registration form is
available on GIG's website _www.gluten.net_ (http://www.gluten.net) . See the
message from Betty Barfield below.

We hope to see you on January 19th. Stay healthy and happy in the New Year!

From Adele Fosser

Thanks so much to Sue Eliot, who is busy planning the future meetings. Sue
has graciously offered to combine the Kitsap and Bremerton GIG groups, and the
meetings will rotate between Bremerton at Harrison Hospital, in Sequim at a
medical clinic, and in Port Townsend at Jefferson Healthcare (hospital). I
will continue to be involved and will continue to help Sue. After my husband
Howard's retirement this coming summer we will move from Port Townsend, possibly
to the Tacoma area. Sue will try to have meetings about every other month
and will continue our tradition of Saturday afternoon meetings. Sue is trying
to line up speakers for future meetings. If you have ideas, please let Sue
([log in to unmask] (mailto:[log in to unmask]) ) or me (Adele at
[log in to unmask] (mailto:[log in to unmask]) ) know what you would like as
subjects for future meetings.

Be sure to join GIG, if you haven't already. It is just $35 per year, but
donations are always appreciated. See the website _www.gluten.net_
(http://www.gluten.net) for details of what GIG does nationwide.

Review Sue's message above and Betty Barfield's message below about the
future conference in Dallas/Fort Worth.

From Betty Barfield:

North Texas Gluten Intolerance Group and Gluten Intolerance Group of N.A.
are proud to announce the 2008 GIG National Education Conference will be held in
the Fort Worth/Dallas, Texas area on June 6-7, 2008. The registration
brochure highlighting the programs and speakers is on the GIG website
_http://www.gluten.net/Conference/08%20Conference%20Brochure.pdf_
(http://www.gluten.net/Conference/08%20Conference%20Brochure.pdf)

We hope you will make plans to attend this conference. We have a great
line-up of speakers, over 40 outstanding GF food vendors will be ready to show off
their gluten free products, plus you will have a chance to meet other gluten
intolerant folks from every part of the country.

North Texas GIG is anxious to show you a good time, good food and excellent
education with a host of top notch speakers on many topics including the
gluten free diet and nutrition, living with gluten intolerance, food and cooking
choices, several medical doctors speaking on a wide variety of problems
associated with celiac disease, and much, much more.

Look over the brochure on the website and you will see something for
everyone with the conference ending with a presentation from Dr. Alessio Fasano, of
the University of Maryland's Celiac Research Center.

Hope to see you in June!

Barfield, Betty
