There's no need for an amp in my oppinion. you don't get any real gain
from running a power amplifier. and the other problem inherent with the
things is that if you have a dirty radio, and let's face it, there's no
truely clean radio out there, however, I digress, the amplifier
amplifies everything, including spirius emitions.
that, only serves to piss off your neighbours, whether they be hams on
ajacent frequencies, or next door complaining of TVI.
there's one fellow here in NSW ran 600 watts, and he sat 3 kc below a
group of fellas that usually sat on 3575. it would have been tolerable,
if his signal wasn't 7.5 kc wide.
