I've had a crazy idea going through my head. Eventually, I plan on getting a vehicle for transporting myself around in association with my music business and I was planning on setting up a "personal emergency communications v ehicle" with capabilities from 160 through uhf. The problem is that I'm used to the Kenwood ts850 which is one of their finest rigs as far as accessibility is concerned and the all everything rigs that are small like the Ic706 and the ft100 aren't as easy for a blind op to use on the road. I wish Kenwood could have developed a mobile similar in size with the accessibility of their bigger rigs. If they did, they'd corner the market as far as I'm concerned. My wife kb3jhh has an interesting problem. She owns a Hyundai and I don't even think that manufacturer has a data sheet on installation of 2-way radio equipment in their vehicles. Right now she's a technician and if she upgrades, she can use the gear at the house and my little one can too if she gets her ticket. 73- pat kk3f
