i think its two diodes that have to be removed...you don't even have to open
the radio up to do it, though you do need sight to do it because they are
located in a cluster of about 30 other surface mount components, and unless
someone else has shown you where they are, it would be impossible to tell
which ones were the right diodes.
and it works reasonably well up there, though i think the power output would
be reduced down to probably 2 or 3 watts that far out of even the commercial
band.
otherwise, it receives just fine all the way through to 1 gig.
