It seems like a lot of money, but Christian told me in a private e-mail last
week that he had priced it at around $2,400 locally. So even with a high
shipping charge and maybe some taxes or duties on top of that, it may still
be cheaper for him to get it from the US.
A few years ago I helped a friend in Romania get a used IC-735. Even with
all the hoops he had to jump through, it was still cheaper to buy it here
than to get it anywhere in Europe.
It may not work out in every case, but he is smart to check out all options.
