If you have a newer radio with a power adjustment on the front panel or in 
the menu or what ever, you don't need the ALC line and I wouldn't even 
bother. If you have an older radio where you can only control power by 
playing with the mic gain, then I'd worry about it but with a newer radio, 
don't bother. Some amps even say as much in the manual.
