Hi;
The mc60 can be a problem. You might consider keeping the heil.
The mc60 does have a lock and two switches on the microphone itself. It can
be run by battery or generally the voltage can come from the radio.

Subject: MC60 mic for TS480

Hi, all.

Well, the deal I am working on involving trading my plain Icom 746, for a
slightly-used TS480 is getting better and better all the time, I think.
Since I'm giving him the Ic746 with the voice chip and two filters, the guy
has agreed to purchase and install the VGS1 voice module, and the 500-hz CW
filter I want as part of the deal.

And, he has agreed to swap my Heil ICM mic for the IC746, for an MC60 mic
that has been correctly wired to work with the TS480.

If I continue to go with this deal, which it really looks like I will, can
someone describe the MC60 mic for me>? What EQ settings work best with the
MC60 and The TS480? Does the MC60 have a lock button, or is it just
activated with a PTT?

One thing the guy doesn't seem to want is the boom I now have for my Heil
ICM mic for the IC746. I assume that there's no way for the MC60 mic to be
dis-assembled and fit into a Heil boom. I guess someday maybe I could get
another Heil mic that is designed to work with Kenwoods, rather than Icoms,
but that's now a bit down the road.

Anyway, we're still considering options here, and Any help would be
appreciated.
