I am of the opinion that there is too much focus on this discussion on the
"hunter" aspect of the paleolithic diet, and almost no focus on the
"gatherer" aspect. (In fact, I get the impression that most people on
this list don'e eat veggies AT ALL.) After all, paleolithic folks had
literally *hundreds* of variaties of plant based food available to them.
Sure, most of these foods are not available at your local Mega-Food-Mart.
In fact, once you eliminate the non-paleo foods, there is virtually
*nothing* left in the supermarket - veggie wise - that one can eat.
(Jerusalem Artickokes and Okra, maybe?)
I'd love to see some kind of discussion about paleolithic veggies. Like:
What are they? Where can I get them? Can I grow them myself? How do I
prepare them? etc...
Perhaps a good book on wild foods like "Stalking the Wild Asparagas" would
be a good place to start.
Any other resources and the veggi aspect of the hunter-gather diet anyone
can suggest to me?
Paleolithic people ate veggies, I think that I should too. I'm just not
sure what I *can* eat...
