Apparently Ken was quoting Cordain correctly. Here is a message I 
received from him this morning:

"When fats displace protein only and I repeat protein only (as per your direct question), they make the diet less acid, because they are neutral in their metabolic acid/base response and protein is acid yielding.  When they displace base yielding fruits and veggies, they make the diet less alkaline.  In the western diet, fats most typically displace fruits and veggies, hence Kenneth Anderson's response is absolutely correct with the above mentioned caveat."
