Adrienne, how far are you traveling and will you have provision for frozen foods - away from the hospital?

Subject: Surgery Diet Help
It looks like I may have to have unavoidable surgery which will require 2 nights
n the hospital. I do not eat dairy (nothing -- no butter, cream, cheese --
ada) or grains at all and am freaking out about what will happen in terms of
iet during my hospital stay. My husband said he will bring in hard boiled eggs
ut other than that, I am at a loss. I have not had a speck of dairy for easily
ver a year -- so I am worried about bringing whey powder (unsweetened). When I
id dairy, it always gave me gas -- but on the other hand -- I want amino acids
o begin healing asap with no sugar. I am so scared about all of this -- came
bout very suddenly -- and know that sugar in someone who has not eaten it at
ll for ages will depress my immune system or cause weird sky high blood glucose
tc. My surgeon agreed that hospital food is awful and said my husband is free
o bring whatever I want. Problem is -- rare fatty lamb --- my usual food --
nd soft cooked eggs -- don't travel well. I cannot risk bacteria/diarrhea if I
an avoid it with this surgery. I begged to not have to stay in the hospital
ut the surgery is to extensive and 48 hours is required. I have dropped to
nderweight from the stress of all of this and I'm so afraid they will force
lucose or who knows what in my IV.
Any paleo ideas would be much appreciated....I feel my best chance to heal would
e amino acids and quality fat.
