No, it should have any effect on JAWS.
If you haven't already installed Windows XP SP3 then you'll be getting
this, and it has some known problems. The most common is if you're using
an HP/Compaq system with an AMD processor. You can find tons of info on
the web. IMHO, I'd install the high priority updates, including SP3. If
you have an HP/Compaq with an AMD processor then I'd suggest applying a
ptach that's available on the web and then installing SP3. I could pull
more information if you're in that situation.
BTW, I'm surprised you have to install the high priority updates just to
get the compatibility pack. Are you using Windows/Microsoft Update? If
so, can you uncheck the updates you don't want to install?
