Sure, it will work. If you are not transmitting, a
random length of wire works with a receiver because you probably
won't notice if it isn't the most efficient so an antenna cut to
the proper length to be resonant will just work even bettter.
If the antenna connection is not a balanced line,
chances are it is low impedance which could be somewhere around
50 ohms or maybe 75 ohms.
