I assume that you broke the braid at the shack end of the circuit. If this
is the case, you are putting a lot of RF into the shack, including yourself.
Not a good plan. It is much better to run a continuous piece of coax to the
antenna and solve antenna problems outdoors. What antenna is giving you a
3:1 SWR anyway? If your transmitter can operate properly into it, 3:1 is
OK, especially on the lower bands.
