Tom,

Hope someone who uses the software can give you a  better answer, but in 
most contest software the  ability to send consecutive serial numbers is 
found in the F key macros.  Just as an example, in Writelog the macro"%c 5nn 
%3" will transmit the other stations call, followed by 5nn, followed by a 3 
digit consecutive s/n.  I would check the macro section of your help file 
for the software.  Or e-mail them with your question.  I had tried the 
program a few years ago and e-mailed a question and got a nice prompt reply 
from Kimberly.

Hope you can figure it out I don't think you want to change software. 
Another option is a memory keyer that has a s/n function.
  Before switching to a contest logger some years ago, I did it the way you 
discribe and it sure was a lot more work.
