those noisy powerlines on low frequencies are always going to be the bain of
ham operators.
Unless they're barried, or a few hundred feet away, your going to get some
amount of noise off them.
One way to try and counter act the noise is to run your antenna wire
perpindicular to the power line.  That is, if the power line runs say east
to west across your yard, then try to run the antenna north to south...this
will help a bit I'm told.
I have never been in an area with above ground power lines since I have been
a ham using 80M.  I guess I'm lucky that way.
Don't have to worry about snagging lines when I'm putting up antenna support
structures either which is nice.
