Hi
I believe that cushcraft suggests that it be 7 to 10 feet above ground. If
you can mount it on something like a garage roof that should work. Keep in
mind that the steeper the roof the harder the mounting.
Also the r7 is three or four feet shorter than the r8 and I know of at least
one local operator who has used it with no guide ropes with no problem.
This will of course depend on your wind but we have a fair amount.
The other issue is that the band width on 40 meters is only 75 kc. The
trick is to get that 75 kc where you want it. Unfortunately the 40 meter
adjustment is at the top of the antenna so you might be taking it up and
down a time or two. An analyzer should make the process less painful. If
you can live with the band width on 40 its not a bad antenna.

Subject: Mounting The R7 antenna.
Hi list.
I was using an Amtron 99 that I had for CB on 10 meters, I just recently =
lost it in a wind storm.
I only have 1 third of the antenna left on the tower, the other 2 thirds =
are on the ground along side the house.
I have an R7 that a friend gave me for when I upgrade to general.
What's the best way to mount it?
I have a postage stamp size yard and no place to guy it down, so I don't =
think it would be a good idea to put it on the tower.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
