Radio Shack has proto boards for $10 or $20 but these have holes spaced 10 to an inch for inserting chips and other components. It sounds like you could try a piece of cork or Styro-foam with some tacks or small nails and alligator clip leads.

Subject: mics for TS480
Where can a guy get those old style boards that had multiple rows of connecters, that a person could just attach and detach wires from at any point.
Something like a regular rj11 wall mounted telephone jack that has 6 screws on the back for connecting wires? that would be perfect with 16 terminals, and 8 sets of two jumpered together.
I suppose i'll have to build one of those to experiment with and figure out exactly how the wiring scheme should be.
Shouldn't be hard to find the pinout for the 480 or any other kenwood for that matter.
If all else fails, someone I'm sure can sacrifice a cat5E cable and test the wires to find out which ones do what.
Pretty difficult to fry the radio as long as you isolate the 8 Volt power wire first and get it out of the way before testing others.
