The tuning dial doesn't do that on the kenwoods like most icoms, personally 
I find that a huge annoyance on icoms. You could set it so you could tune 
from memory with some radios, but I don't remember seeing that in the menu 
on my newer radios. It doesn't mean it's not there. I just hit the button to 
transfer the memory to the vfo and tune from there on the kenwoods, I really 
hate that 1 feature on icom radios a lot where you can tune from memory 
because I"m always bumping that tuning dial. I have to remember to lock it 
on my 706 every time I use it and I never remember.
