Tom,

Since I don't have a vehicle, I wasn't even aware that such a mounting 
exists.  As you said, it probably makes more sense to use that type of mount 
than drilling holes and running cable through the firewall or other part of 
the auto body.  Holes can leak if not carefully sealed.
