Some additional information.

When I connect my router to my pc, the light on the router comes on as 
well as the lights at the connector on the pc.

Network and Sharing Center recognizes an unidentified network.

When I ping the router from the pc, there is no reply and there is a 
time-out.

I have tried different cables.

PS: I broke down and used Network Magic, but it could not recognize the 
connection.
