Hi! I'm new to the posting and I just wanted to say how great it is
to have a resource like this.
I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can shed some light
on. My thirteen year old son , Steven, was diagnosed with celiac at
17 months. He's doing well, but he does have a problem with some
type of dermatitis. I've mentioned the rash to both his primary care
doctor and the dermatologist, but they don't feel it's related to his
celiac. It doesn't seem to fit the description of dermatitis
herpetiformis I've seen.
Also, he sometimes gets a really horrible cough, but no other
symptoms of a cold or respiratory problem. Could this be related to
his celiac?
Finally, the doctor told us that one of the main symptoms of his
being "glutened" would be extreme mood swings. As I've said, he's
thirteen, so how do you differentiate a gluten mood swing and a
teenage one?
Just to add our experience to the teeth question. Steven has
very strong teeth. No cavities, no discoloration, and he never
grinds his teeth.
