Many people do not know that a lack of adequate calciium/ mag will cause muscle cramps.

Carlton Fredericks, the grand-daddy of American nutritionists used to advoate women taking 1,ooo units of calcium. He used to say flat out that if you got menstrual cramps it was because you didn't have enough calcium. An aside, he said that if you had a heavy period lasting more than 3 days, you need B vit beacuse you were anemic. The more anemic, the more you bled.

My md/homeopath who was vp of the World Homeopathic Association routinely gave calcium to anyone with cramping of any sort. IT would work within a few days.

The latest sreseach says to take the calcium in a couple of 600 mg units during the day because the body canot absorb more than that at any one time.

Dr Lendon Smith in his book, FEED YOUR KIDS RIGHT, advocated giving children 1,000mg of calcium ..same dose as adults..when then started teething. My daughter popped 4 molars totally asompatically, iwth the statement...Mommy, my gums are itchy. And there were 4 new molars shinning thru. I used to give it to her at night in appeysauce with a bit of cinnamon to hide to gray color. The way you put them into bed at night is the way you find them in the morning! And they sleep like a charm. My md was very much infavor of the calcium...even tho she was only 10 months old because it couldn't hurt it and it would do a world of good.

The argument that you drink milk or eat cheese and there get enough Calcium just doesn't hold water because just because you eat it doesn't mean your body is absorbing it, esp if you are lactose intlerant which is a side effect of leaky gut.
