Third World was the underdeveloped nations, who were outside
the confrontation between the West and the Communist nations.
1 = West, or "free"; 2 = Red. Cold War terminology.

Good question ...

"Third World?" Ours.

Why "personal"?
Are you asking for a philosophical discussion
of the basis for historic preservation?
I would rather have people tell about
the most beautiful crappers they have ever seen.
(One man's history is another man's noise.)
Mine were in Chester (NW England),
Trinity College, Cambridge (UK),
and a Chicago lake shore high rise.
The first two were beautifully polished solid hardwood;
the third was wicker.
Oddly enough, the one in Chester was in
the George Washington Hotel there.
See "The Loos of London" and "The Loos of Paris,"
fine little guidebooks. In the latter, one description
starts out "The loos of Notre Dame are located
behind the church of the same name."
