Hi Charlotte
Looks like all the replies to this got in before I even had chance to
read the question :) I will just back up what everyone else has said,
namely that 3 days is peak withdrawal time, and that you should go a
minimum of 2 weeks strict paleo, preferably a month, in order to
determine your intolerances.
Also, I can't recommend Mackarness's Not All in the Mind[1] enough,
despite it having flaws like including potatoes... It has a brilliant
description of the (LONG understood) stress response to food.
My suggestion is get rid of everything containing wheat or dairy in
your house. I mean DESTROY IT if you have to. And make sure you've
got plenty of filling paleo foods, being full won't stop you craving
foods you react to, but being hungry will make it MUCH more likely you
will go and seek them out.
Also as Ro says you may hit a similar (but still very different)
problem after a few weeks. My best suggestion to cope with this is to
sign up to a veg box scheme. The constant supply of new and different
foods may help you get over the bereavement of not eating chocolate
cheesecake any more.
