11. Homeopathic remedies work beautifully for this. You can find a

professional through BIH,, the British Institute for Homeopathy, or NCH, the
National Center for Homeopathy in DC. Good luck,

12. Yes Sue, it sounds like PN - peripheral neuropathy. What helps is

ALA - alpha lipoic acid. I take a tiny amount 100 mg once or twice a

day. ALA helps to metabolize carbs and repair nerves. I learned

about it from a naturopath. I was plagued with tingling and burning

pains in my toes, feet, legs, fingers, arms. Since I have been using
ALA, my symptoms are greatly improved. Hope this helps you too.

  13. I hope you find the cause soon. I thought maybe it could be related to the post-cold hot/burning type response you can get with raynauds. I feel for you; these mysterious symptoms are the worse b/c you know they are real, but most people don't get it, and the causes are so hard to find. Is your granddaughter doing any kind of treatment for her raynauds? Mine has been much worse this year and I'm going to get evaluated for scleroderma, which can be related.
Good luck to you!

  14. It's the same symptoms I've had (also without itching or splitting skin). I found it's relieved by anti-fungal cream. I have Type 2 diabetes, and I have from time to time had tingling and burning in the bottoms of my feet. Have you had your blood sugar checked.
  Neuropathies accompany diabetes.

  15. I live in Canada and under our system blood glucose is measured in mmo/L. It appears that your measurement is in mg/dl. Under that system, 90 would be a little low. I doubt that a couple of extra hours would drop it that low. It sounds like you have an idea that glucose might be causing your hot feet. There are probably many possible causes.

  16. I doubt my solution will be of any use to you, but I figured I'd email you anyway. I first started having problems with burning feet because of a fungal infection I had picked up while living in Bolivia, which still hadn't gone away years later. Someone suggested that I treat it with grapefruit seed extract -- GSE got rid of the fungus; now when I have burning feet it seems to be only because they're dry, and a good dose of thick lotion does the trick. It's an incredibly frustrating problem, though -- I wish you luck!

  17. The only thing which works for me is a low carb, sugar and chocolate free diet, including no sugar alcohols from artificial sweeteners. (Rats! Two of my favorite food groups. ;) ) I am a celiac diabetic. Has your blood sugar been ok? The foot burning can be a sign of problems in this area (tingling or burning). For actual hot feet, hormonal problems can be a cause. I think I've also read that lymphatic congestion can also cause hot feet.

18. I have suffered from a similar problem, and it was dx'd as Renaults

Syndrome pre CD dx. Toes would swell painfully and turn shades of

black and purple at odd times of the year. They were always itchy.

Since going GF, my feet constantly tingle of numbness and or subtly

ache but are tolerable-to-better especially if I keep them cold.

When it gets bad, a EXTRA dose of pantothenic acid works wonders. My

hands suffer similarly but to a much lesser extent, but with more

profound numbness.

  19. You’re on tamoxifen I guess because you’ve had breast cancer or strong family hx of same. The thing with tamoxifen is that it cuts down estrogen effects in breast cancer tissue, but it INCREASES estrogen effects in other tissues. Look it up on the internet for yourself. What may be going on in your feet is menopausal type symptoms. I have never been on tamoxifen, but suffered with menopausal symptoms when I was in my 40’s with feet sweating/burning, among other things. You should report this symptom to your dr., maybe he can give you a lower dose.

  20. I would be very careful with Vitamin B12. I thought I was deficient, started taking B12, then went to my GYN, who I asked to do a blood level of B12, and it came back 1500% above normal level. She scolded me for taking supplements without checking for deficiencies first. Maybe the B12 is causing feet burning. I looked up symptoms of B12 overdose though and didn’t see it as a symptom. Ask your dr. for a blood level of B12.
Plastic, synthetic soles of shoes, etc. can cause terrible feet sweating and burning. Switch to real leather soles and uppers so your feet can breathe. Remove your shoes and socks when you get home to let them breathe more. If there is any fungal infection going on (athelete’s foot) this can cause sweating and burning too. A good cure for fungal infections is wipe your feet with white distilled vinegar after the shower and let them air dry. You can repeat this rinse at night before bed too. It may take a couple of weeks, but you will see a big improvement and cure eventually with the vinegar rinse IF it’s fungal. Even if it’s not fungal you are not doing any harm. If it is fungal, splash some vinegar on the bottom of the shower/tub to kill the fungus there too and leave it to dry so you are not retransmitting it to yourself.
  21. I suspected that I had misspelled raynauds! I my case it turned out to be the peripheral neuropathy, or arthritis, or diabetes. I didn't have arthritis at the time and my non-fasting blood sugar was 8.1 a couple of days ago (I live with a diabetic and so we test me occasionally). I worry that it is in my future as well.

So we were both dx'd with Raynauds...interesting. Has your granddaughter been tested for CD? There appears to be a definite correlation between CD and pre-dx neuropathy.

Good luck with the sleeping, I'll keep my cold toes crossed for you!

  22. Your right, it sounds like PN (Peripheral Neuropathy)

But check it out to rule out other health problems.

There is a great book series called Numb Toes and Other Woes :
By John A. Senneff (Volume 1-3)

It has lots of good information and the last book is all about nutriention.

Good luck. I have PN and I remember having that very same issue.

23. Just read your posting on burning feet, on the Celiac Digest (7-8 Feb,

#64).

I don't have any real answers, but I certainly entirely sympathsize

with you.

I have the exact same problem and am keenly interested in any helpful

responses you may get.

Thanks again to all you who shared your experiences. It’s better than going to the doctor.

I learn something every day from this group!!!
